Some Performances é um filme inspirado em 54 performances da segunda metade do séc XIX, revisitadas por Sara Manente, Ondine Cloez e Michiel Reynaert. O processo de emulação é baseado em algumas restrições: o menos possível de objetos, luz natural e o mesmo fundo. Tirando o contexto específico de quando e onde essas performances foram criadas, Some Performances abstrai do seu significado original, as intenções, as conotações políticas, a referência à história e geografia desses “aqui e agora”. O que sobra é uma “forma”, uma forma potencial, que o espectador pode preencher com significado e conteúdo.
Sara Manente, Ondine Cloez e Michiel Reynaert começaram a trabalhar juntos em 2008 na Bélgica, durante o processo de criação do espetáculo de dança lawaai means Hawaai. Provenientes de diferentes campos, tais como a semiótica, a dança, a matemática, eles trabalham como coreógrafos, intérpretes e curadores, entre dança contemporânea e artes performativas.
Some performances is a film inspired by 54 performances of the second half of the XIX century, revisited by Sara Manente, Ondine Cloez and Michiel Reynaert. The process of emulation is based upon some restrictions: less objects as possible, natural light and same background. Taking away the specific context, when and where those performances were created, we took away their original meaning, the intentions, the political connotations, the reference to the history and the geography of those “here and now”.What is left is a “form”, a potential shape, which the spectator can fill with meaning, content.
Sara Manente, Ondine Cloez and Michiel Reynaert started to work together in 2008 in Belgium, during the creation process of the dance performance lawaai means hawaai. Coming from different fields such as semiotics, dance, mathematics, they work as choreographer, interpreter and curator in between contemporary dance and performing arts.
