HAUNTS AND TRENCHES: WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE WOLRD ENDS (?)
Tieta Macau + Abeju Rizzo + Elton Panamby + Inaê Moreira
A multisensory creation which crosses multiple platforms, Haunts and Trenches is a shadow in time, an ancestral glitch and a historical delay. A spear thrown at the colony, a machete wielded to protect the offspring, presences that do not end in a necroptic frame, rather scaly snaking through the abyss.
AT HAUNTING’S DISPOSAL
Wellington Gadelha
Here is a body, with his bike and backpack, a messenger from the favela who wanders through a piece of deep Ceará, an old Northeast. Taking with him enchantments and the luck to be alive, his exercise is to cross borders, to spread the announcement and to access in dreams the place where terror does not enter.
DANCED SERENADES
Soraya Portela
Five bodies in the periphery of the Brazilian northeast, survivors of a pandemic and of Brazil’s political moment, articulate their biographies and intimate landscapes to produce some kind of response to this time. Danced Serenades is a performative testimony, a taking of stance, a manifesto, a denouement of time, that leads us to rethink, realize and recognize our current discourses facing the diversity and uncertainties of today’s world.
DARK MATTER
Alejandro Ahmed + Grupo Cena 11
Dark Matter had its première date scheduled for April 2020. Its artistic ground is the detection of a force through the symptoms present in the bodies it traverses. An invisible body, that associates its appearance with the modification of other bodies to manifest its existence. It’s also a proper name. A remnant of Future. A becoming of Past.
TANGLY
Dances in Transitions Collective
TANGLY guides crossovers and ritualizes memories of 11 trans, non-binary and queer people, disrupting everyday life, grounding universes and glimpsing healing ebós, unburdens, provocations, reflections, affections, anguish, revolts and ways of imagining futures.
VAPOR
Original Bomber Crew
In the alleys of the outskirts of Teresina or other urban areas, “vapor” is a slang word that means “to disappear”. It refers to the favela inhabitant who dies, who “evaporates” while society doesn’t care about his absence.
NOW AND WAIT DO NOT CONFABULALTE
Iara Izidoro
The film is part of the creative process of a homonymous artwork being installed at a physical space. Here, the performer investigates the creation of images through the use of materialities and devices, such as movement and muscle sensors, which shape the attempt to inhabit multiple temporalities as an exercise of fictionalizing possibilities of permanence in a world that predicts its absence. How to create images that speak of a non-visible experience?
SHORT, SHORT, LONG AND SOMETIMES SHORT, LONG, SHORT
Marcela Levi + Lucía Russo
In 1944, to escape Nazi persecution, the Yiddish poet Abraham Sutzkever was forced to cross a minefield with his wife. To do this, they moved in anapestic rhythm (two short and one long syllable) and also in amphibrach rhythm (one long syllable between two short), walking one kilometer to survive and tell this story. How can we cross this minefield called Brazil?
THE MORE IT REHEARSES THE WORSE IT GETS
MEXA
The more it rehearses the worse it gets is an attempt to build an artwork collectively within an established time frame. The performance has two sections. In the first one, the group raises themes of interest, the embryos of the scene, and decides how to organize the presentation. Later, the collective presents what they have decided to keep as the artwork.
CIVIL CONSTRUCTION
Inquieta Cia
In Civil Construction, 6 performers erect a structure designed during the length of the work itself. It’s not architecture, but an action that happens out of order. Non-specialized architects create an attack on the public space according to a protocol that lacks a preconceived plan.
